The cornerstone of our 2009 strategy remains (as was particularly successful last year) customer focus. In particular:
1. Key focus is on B2B (Business to Business) express shipments especially where these involve our Global Customers: Nigeria as an integral link in their worldwide logistical chains.
For example:
– With our sister-companies providing Air Freight, Sea Freight, and Specialist logistical expertise, we are well placed to refer our customers to reliable service providers outside the Express niche, but still bearing the trusted and reliable DHL brand.
– In the Aviation sector our just-in-time express service is used by many airlines. We help to ensure that critical aircraft spares are rapidly imported so preventing breakdowns resulting in Aircraft on Ground.
– In the booming Banking Sector we are helping to roll out the explosive expansion of branches and ATMs as well as assisting banks to modernize the distribution of Statements, Dividend Warrants and AGM materials to their share- and account-holders. Major customers include Oceanic, UBA and Zenith Bank.
2. For Corporate organisations and individuals, especially those operating in less developed areas of the country, we have pioneered special tariffs and products to allow them access to our services at affordable prices.
3. The continued development of our rapidly-growing Telesales service, supported by state-of-the art Customer Service Technology will continue to be a major theme.
In addition, in 2009, we plan to open our own airside / landside Gateway at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. This will benefit our customers by providing more rapid clearance by Nigerian Customs Officers who will be posted to DHLs own facility. We also intend to partner with the Nigerian Customs in pioneering the use of the internationally recognized Asycuda import management system in the aviation industry in Nigeria.
